Providence shows off the new troops in fashion
Providence, RI - Dunkin Donuts Center

When Ricky Ledo signed with the Friars in 2012 the buzz around Providence was crazy. Tonight may have been his debut, but everyone will be talking about the performances of Kris Dunn and Bryce Cotton. Bryce Cotton may have scored 30 tonight if it wasn't for early foul trouble that plagued him throughout the game. He still finished with 22 points on 7-9 from three point range. The senior from Phoenix, AZ said he was prepared to get more open looks this year with the other threats the Friars have and he was correct. Providence also saw second team Big East Junior LaDaontae Henton have a solid start to the year with 10 points and 7 boards. The story of the night however was Sophmore Kris Dunn who has 14 assists and only 4 turnovers. Dunn played like a coach on the floor tonight and it made fans in Providence feel a little better about losing Vincent Council to the NBA Draft. Josh Fortune the Sophmore from Virginia also had himself a great game. Fortune was not expected to get much time due to so many returning players however he came off the bench and went 4-4 from the field scoring 9 points and fueling a run that seperated Providence from UNH.

Up next for Providence is a trip to the Virgin Islands where they will open against New Jersey's Monmouth which could lead to a game versus #11 Kansas in the second round.
