An absolute thriller played out Friday night in Phoenix as the Friars reached the Elite Eight with a 56-54 victory over the Razorbacks of Arkansas. Providence who led by as many as 16 in the first half saw their lead diminish and actually trailed by 5 with 3:30 to go. This however didn't stop the Friars from mounting a mini comeback and eventually winning the game. Providence will now head to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1997 and will take on the #2 seeded Florida Gators coached by Billy Donovan an alum of Providence College and also apart of the 1987 Final Four team.
