Providence, RI -

The Providence College Friars were given a steady challenge from the Hofstra Pride, but in the end the Friars escape with the victory 65-56. The Friars were led by Kadeem Batts who had 22 points and 7 rebounds and Vincent Council who had 16 points, 6 assists, and 6 steals. The Friars found themselves in a tight game actually trailing by two with 3:45 seconds remaining, but some Hofstra turnovers helped fuel a 9-0 run leading to the victory. This extends the Providence win streak to 6 games with non-conference play nearing an end. Providence will use the beginning of next week to concentrate on final exams and Coach Cooley will be out hitting the recruiting trails. Their next game is six days away where they will host Colgate.
