The 18th ranked Providence College Friars struggled at times in their opener, but were able to overcome a sloppy team performance with four starters scoring in double figures. Senior Larry Ely led all scorers with 20 as the Friars take advantage of their size in comparison to Winston Salem State who struggled on the boards all night long. Providence also got solid contributions from Bean and Roberson who both posted double doubles in the victory. Providence College will not get much rest and will be back in action tomorrow for their second round match up with the University of Buffalo. After their match-up with Bufallo, PC will head to the Madison Square Garden for the second portion of the tournament.
