Providence, RI -

Vincent Council had a career high 15 assists as he helped lead the Friars to a thirlling victory over the DePaul Blue Demons. Kadeem Batts also chipped in 29 points to help the Friars overcome two overtimes on their home floor to a team they handled with ease the first go around. Providence fell behind early and trailed by 16 points at halftime, but a 14-2 run midway through the second half got them right back into the game. Providence then hit a shot with 3.7 seconds to go ahead in regulation when DePaul got up the floor quickly and scored a tying bucket to send it to overtime. One overtime was not enough however as the Blue Demons made a stop on the final possession for Providence in the first overtime. Providence was able however to gain a 4 point lead with one minute to go in the second overtime and escaped with the narrow victory. This helps Providence move up in the Big East Standings with a (6-4) record. Next up for the Friars is a trip to the Madison Square Garden to play the St. John's Red Storm.
