Providence, RI -
Ed Cooley and the Providence College basketball program announced the signing of Salim Platt from Miami Beach, Florida with their one and only scholarship. The team which is struggling with depth at the moment has used their scholarship to ensure an extra body for what is expected to be a very talented and deep group next year. Platt who plays his AAU ball for the Miami Long Range is averaging 12.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. The 6' 8" forward weighs in at 254 lbs. and Cooley has already made it clear he will be a staple in the rotation next year. "This kid has all the tools to be a solid presence in our back court next year. On top of our transfers this helps add even more depth." With Cooley's one scholarship already used, the Friars attention will to be towards several talented players in the next class.
