Providence, RI

The Providence College Friars got their much needed confidence booster heading into conference play with a dominating victory over Saint Peter's College 66-52. Providence who led 39-19 at the half kept the commanding lead until they called off the dogs with about 6 minutes to go in order to begin resting for Big East Play. Providence was led by the frosh Kris Dunn and his 13 points. Providence ends the non-conference schedule on a nine game winning streak and with a (10-2) record, but things are only going to get more difficult. "We know these games are important, but when you look at the big picture, we know we have to play even better to compete in the Big East. The trip upcoming to the Bradley Center in Milwaukee ought to give us an idea of where we stand right now. I will have out guys ready to go and we will certainly embrace this first road trip of the year," Coach Cooley said after the game. This will be the Friars first trip outside the state of Rhode Island since November and will include a trip to Marquette along with DePaul. Providence has struggled at Marquette in the past, and Marquette is off to a strong start. They are ranked #15 in the nation with impressive wins over Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
